Colton Utility Authority Meeting of January 21, 2003 <br />Wellhead Treatment of Well Nos. 15, 17, and 24 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Funds are available in the Water Capital Equipment Account Number 521-8100-8101-3890. These funds <br />would be initially used to construct the project. Upon project completion, the Regional Water Quality <br />Control Board would reimburse the City for the project up to $750,000. An additional grant in the amount <br />of $75,000 will be forthcoming to fund the CEQA and engineering requirements of the project. The entire <br />project is expected to cost $825,000 including the necessary improvements to the well pumping systems <br />and engineering. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The initial study is complete and mitigated negative declaration CEQA document are currently in progress <br />for the project. Construction of the project would be subject to the mitigations outlined in the final <br />document. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution declaring an emergency condition <br />exists within the city that requires immediate action to ensure the reliable delivery of a pure, wholesome <br />and potable water supply; and, authorize the City Manager, pursuant to Section 22050 of the Public <br />Contract Code, to negotiate and execute contracts with U.S. Filter Company and other vendors as <br />necessary for emergency repairs and services to complete a design-build wellhead treatment system for <br />Well Nos. 15, 17, and 24 in an amount not-to-exceed $825,000. <br />Reporc prepared by: <br />Attachment: <br />Eric R.
