MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Appointments <br />Lytle Creek Water Conservation Association <br />201 <br />Mayor Huntoon recommended appointment of Mr. John Matich to the Lytle Creek Water <br />Conservation Association, stating Mr. Matich is eligible for appointment and he is <br />willing to serve. Mayor Huntoon stated this particular appointment is to be made <br />by the City Council. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Rios, to appoint Mr. John Matich <br />to the Lytle Creek Water Conservation Association. Unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4209 <br />Customs and Immigration Service at Ontario International Airport <br />Mayor Huntoon reported that the Foothill Marketing Consortium has requested adoption <br />of a resolution favoring locating U.S. Customs & Immigration at Ontario International <br />Airport. Mayor Huntoon called on Planning Director Aguilera to comment on this item. <br />Planning Director Aguilera reported that in reviewing the request from the <br />Foothill Corridor Marketing Consortium, it is his opinion, that the City would <br />benefit from increased traffic at the Ontario Airport for the following reasons: <br />1. An airport with international capacity in our vicinity would be a good selling <br />N point for residential developers. <br />(Y) 2. International cargo capacity would be of benefit to local industrial and commercial <br />7 campanies as well as, encouraging new companies to relocate in the area. <br />Q <br />Q 3. The increased traffic should be of benefit in terms of employment for such <br />occupations as cab drivers, airport personnel and other related jobs. <br />Discussion followed among the Council with the consensus that it would be of benefit <br />to the City of Colton in terms of convenience, employment and eventually in revenue. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to approve Resolution <br />No. 4209. Unanimous vote. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4210 <br />Opposing the Use of PERS Pension Funds to Balance State Budget <br />Acting City Manager Elliott stated in reviewing the request by the City of Rancho <br />Cucamonga with regards to opposition of using PERS pension funds to balance the <br />State budget, the City of Colton concurs and it also requests revision to the <br />Public Employees Retirement Law to prohibit such use in the future. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to approve Resolution <br />No. 4210. Unanimous vote. <br />CEMETERY <br />Memorial Day Services <br />Mayor Huntoon complimented the upkeep of the Hermosa Cemetery Grounds and stated <br />that he had been impressed by the maintenance when he attended the Memorial Day <br />Services held there. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Planning <br />General Plan, Index No. G-1-82 <br />Mayor Huntoon announced and declared the continuation of the Public Hearing. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Posting the Continuance and reported <br />that no objections or protests had been received. <br />Planning Director Aguilera reported the Planning Commission had heard a request from <br />Key Street Association to amend the General Plan from Low Density Residential to <br />General Industrial and Industrial Park. Mr. Aguilera pointed out the area on the <br />display map, indicating the property is located in an unincorporated area south of <br />the Santa Ana River and east of Riverside Avenue. <br />Mr. Aguilera stated the area contains approximately 153 acres with 110+ acres <br />proposed for Gneral Industrial and 43+ acres property for Industrial Park. <br />JU'; <br />
