MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Boards & Commissions <br />Cemetery Commission <br />Mayor Gonzales referred to a memorandum from Councilman Rehrer, recom- <br />mending appointment of Dave Junker to the Cemetery Commission. Mayor <br />Gonzales asked if the Council Members had any other recommendations for <br />appointment to the Cemetery Commission. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, rati- <br />fying appointment of Dave Junker to the Cemetery Commission. Vote was <br />unanimous. <br />Utilities Commission <br />Councilwoman Garcia said she would like to recommend Joe Lopez for ap- <br />pointment to the Utilities Commission. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Garcia, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, ratifying <br />appointment of Joe Lopez to the Utilities Commission. Unanimous vote. <br />STAFF REPORTS: <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Pet Limiting Ordinance <br />Ord. No. 0-1-87 <br />Police Chief Connolly referred to a proposed ordinance prepared by the <br />City Attorney on the limiting of pets in a dwelling unit, advising that <br />he has been approached by citizens, the media, and City Staff expressing <br />concerns about the three pet limit. Mr. Connolly said in this regard, <br />he would recommend Council modify the proposed ordinance to a limit of <br />six animals, specifically three dogs and three cats, and introduce the <br />ordinance for first reading. <br />Mayor Gonzales stated the City has received an open letter from Carol <br />Walter, with regard to the limiting of pets per household, and asked <br />the City Attorney to read the letter in full. <br />Councilwoman Cisneros stated she felt the people should be allowed to <br />make the choice of what animals they keep, however, she also felt the <br />City needed an ordinance for enforcement and control. <br />Mayor Gonzales said there were several cards from the audience request- <br />ing to address the City Council on this matter, and called upon Mrs. <br />Anderson. <br />Mrs. Carolyn B.
