No. 0-23-88 <br />City Manager Benest <br />cars on front lawns <br />the survey data and <br />action, the intent <br />or problems. <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, <br />LEVYING SPECIAL TAXES TO BE COLLECTED DURING <br />FISCAL YEAR 1988-89 FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE PRIN- <br />CIPAL OF AND INTEREST ON AND ADMINISTRATIVE EX- <br />PENSES WITH RESPECT TO THE BONDS OF COMMUNITY <br />FACILITIES DISTRICT NO. 87-1 OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, AND FOR THE PAYMENT OF POLICE PRO- <br />TECTION SERVICES AND FIRE PROTECTION AND SUP- <br />PRESSION SERVICES FOR THE BENEFIT OF SAID DIS- <br />TRICT. <br />reported on a proposed Ordinance prohibiting parked <br />and reviewed the issues of the report pertaining to <br />rationale, concerns raised regarding the proposed <br />of the proposed Ordinance, and minimizing the concerns <br />Police Chief Connolly showed slides taken of various areas in the City <br />where one or more vehicles were parked in front yards of residences. <br />Mr. Benest said Staff is suggesting that the proposed Ordinance prohibit <br />the parking of vehicles on front and side yards of residential property <br />visible from the public right-of-way except in garages, under carports <br />or in driveways, with one exemption - the Ordinance would exempt those <br />households who front streets of widths of less than 32 feet and who do <br />not have off-street parking in a garage, driveway or carport for at <br />least two vehicles. Mr. Benest advised the Beautification Committee <br />supports the proposed Ordinance. <br />Mr. Benest concluded Staff recommends waiving full reading and pass <br />First Reading of Ordinance No. 0-23-88. <br />Mr. Fred Cordova, 190 West E Street, stated he would be in favor of <br />such an ordinance, however, he felt that parking motor homes or boats <br />should be allowed in the sideyards. <br />Councilwoman Cisneros stated she was in agreement with the suggestion <br />made by Mr. Cordova, and felt the City should also keep in mind that <br />some homes have very narrow sideyards and it is impossible to get a <br />vehicle into a backyard for parking purposes. <br />4 <br />
