Andy Gunn, 3017 Shadid Drive, stated he supported the Reche Canyon <br />Specific Plan, however, he was concerned about developers in the Canyon. <br />Mr. Gunn said he bought his land to have space, he felt the City should <br />look at decreasing the density, control growth, and retain the 1/2 acre <br />minimum. Mr. Gunn said there is no need for more traffic on Reche Canyon <br />Road. <br />Dennis Hansberger, 1323 West Colton Avenue, Redlands, spoke in favor of <br />the basic concept of the Specific Plan, however, he did not agree with <br />the amendments recommended by the Planning Commission. Mr. Hansberger <br />also discussed developments, rules and regulations, etc. Mr. Hansberger <br />suggested the City adopt the Plan that the Committee agreed upon. <br />Claire Deann Harrington, 11574 Reche Canyon Road, stated she would like <br />to see the zoning stay as it is, and would like to see the Reche Canyon <br />Specific Plan pass as it stands now. Ms. Harrington said she enjoys <br />riding horses in the Canyon. <br />Jim Sullivan, 101 East Redlands Boulevard, #219, Redlands, spoke against <br />the Reche Canyon Specific Plan as it has been amended. Mr. Sullivan <br />said there is a need for 7,200 sq. ft. lots. <br />William Grimes, 2592 Gunnison Way, stated the majority of Canyon resi- <br />dents do not want development as in other areas and enjoy the openness <br />of the Canyon. Mr. Grimes said the City should follow the intent of <br />the Plan. <br />Richard Prieto, 634 East "H" Street, stated he is a member of the <br />Planning Commission, and if the City wants to take care of the children <br />in the Canyon, keep the 1/2 acre minimum lots. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Roman, the Public <br />Hearing was terminated. Unanimous vote. <br />Councilman Lofy asked that Community Development Director Aguilera re- <br />spond to comments made by Mr. Bill Warkentin and the Relco Industries <br />property. <br />Mr. Aguilera stated Relco Industries would like their area, in Planning <br />Area 1, deleted from the Plan and considered at a later date. Mr. <br />Aguilera said this involves a 90 -acre parcel and it needs to be a part <br />of the Plan. <br />Councilman Roman said he was concerned about commercial development <br />in the Canyon at the location of a small corner store, which had been <br />there for some time and was very rural -looking. Mr. Roman stated this <br />store was a source of shopping for the Canyon residents, and he did <br />not feel a more modern facility would fit in. Mr. Roman said he was <br />concerned about creating "commercial pockets" in the Canyon. Mr. Roman <br />concluded he would like to have the proposed commercial development at <br />that particular location deleted, and leave the little country store <br />as is. <br />
