Resolution <br />Mayor Gonzales presented a resolution to the City Council to join the <br />Nation in observing the week of April 1-7, 1991, as National Community <br />Development Week 191, RESOLUTION NO. R-28-91. <br />Moved by Council Member Cisneros, seconded by Council Member Roman, <br />to approve RESOLUTUION NO. R-28-91. Unanimous vote. <br />NORTON AFB <br />Mayor Gonzales requested the Council's support in joining the City of <br />San Bernardino in objecting to the possible location of a federal <br />prison on or adjacent to Norton Air Force Base as this would be <br />inconsistent with the goals and objectives set forth by the Inland <br />Valley Development Agency. Letters advising of the City's position <br />would be sent to Robert L. Hammock, Co -Chairman of Inland Valley <br />Development Agency, W. R. Holcomb, Co -Chairman of the Inland Valley <br />Development, Honorable Jerry Lewis and George Brown, U. S. Congressmen. <br />Moved by Council Member Cisernos, seconded by Council Member Roman, to <br />object to the location of a federal prison at NAFB. Unanimous vote. <br />Certificate of Commendation <br />Mayor Gonzales presented a Certificate of Commendation to the following <br />in appreciation for their services in the Persian Gulf: <br />Rick Fredericks (Air Force) <br />Alex Arroyo (82nd Airborne, Army) <br />Socorro Hernandez (Marines) <br />Andy Sachar (Marines) <br />Raymond Roy Lopez Huerta (Marines) <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />CDBG <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and reported <br />that no protests or objections had been received. <br />Community Development Director Aguilera reported that the City has <br />been allocated approximately $211,000, in CDBG funds from the San <br />Bernardino County Department of Economic & Community Development (ECD) <br />per the Cooperating Cities Agreement with the County. Of the total <br />amount, 10% of the allocation must be withheld for contingencies. <br />Director Aguilera stated project proposals not previously reviewed by <br />the City Council are included in the Agenda Material. The proposals <br />- are Public Service requests and should Council consider funding one or <br />more of these projects in lieu of the staff recommendations, it would <br />would then cause the allocations to drastically exceed the suggested <br />4 <br />APR 2 1991 <br />
