Resolution <br />Council Member Cisneros read in full a Resolution for Rosa Delgado, <br />12th Grader at Colton High School, for winning First Place in the <br />San Bernardino County Commission on the Status of Women, Women's <br />History Month Essay/Poster Competition. Council Member Cisneros <br />called Rosa forward for the presentation. <br />Certificate <br />Mayor Gonzales presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Teacher <br />Pamela Paulsen for her efforts, encouragement and positive role <br />played in the students' lives. <br />Mayor Gonzales asked Ms. Paulsen to present the City Council <br />Resolution to Veronica Tejada, 5th grader, Alice Birney Elementary <br />for her Honorable Mention in the Poster Contest. <br />The Certificate of Appreciation for Teacher Troy Knudsvig will be mailed. <br />Proclamation <br />Mayor Gonzales read a Proclamation entitled Summer Youth Traffic <br />Safety and stated a copy would be mailed to every school principal <br />in the City of Colton. <br />Colton Queen Contestants <br />Mayor Gonzales presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the <br />City of Colton to the 1991 Miss Colton Queen Contestants: <br />Melissa Aguilar, Charity Anderson, Valerie Arevalo, Naomi Baeza, <br />Maria Teresa Cardenas, Amy Chow, Sarah Gould, Brenda Granado, Heather <br />Hayden, Laurie Ann Kriegh, Sonya Leyva, Rebecca Rodriguez, Dawn Tyhuis, <br />and Crystal Wilson. Queen Contestants were accompanied by Chamber <br />Representative, Donna East and the 1990 Miss Colton. The Pagent will <br />be held at the Ashley House on June 2, 1991 at 3 p.m. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATION: <br />Mr. George Fulp, 1497 Cindee Lane, spoke regarding Item 28, Salary <br />Increase for the City Manager. Mr. Fulp commented on the City of Colton <br />budget, amounts of monies spent thus far, and the findings of his <br />own survey. He also expressed the opinion that since the City of Colton <br />is in a deficit that a salary increase not be approved at this time <br />for the City Manager. <br />City Manager Sotelo responded that the information provided by Mr. Fulp <br />regarding a $3,000,000. deficit was not a fact. <br />Mayor Gonzales also explained the financial situation of the City <br />of Colton and stated that if the City is in such a bad financial <br />situation it would not have been possible to expand its Fire <br />4 <br />MAY 2 8 t�. <br />
