Salary Increase for the City Manager Moved by Mayor Gonzales, seconded by Council Member Roman, to approve a Salary Increase for the City Manager. Council Member Lofy stated the salary and different benefits afforded the City Manager since he was hired and in view of this, felt that an increase at this time is out of place. Council Member Lofy said he is not personally satisfied with the performance of the City Manager and he votes No, for a salary increase. Council Member Rehrer stated that no other City Manager has had this kind of salary increases and would vote No, for a Salary Increase for the City Manager. Council Member Cisneros concurred with what had been said thus far and felt only people who perform well should be given an increase, she has not been satisfied with the City Managers performance and voted No, for a Salary Increase for the City Manager. Mayor Gonzales commented that the benefits received by the City Manager at the time of hire were by unanimous vote of the Council at that time. He disagrees with the concept of a subordinate making more money than their superior and feels the City Manager has done an admirable job and evaluations completed by himself and Council Member Roman indicate that an increase is called for. Council Member Roman also felt that a chief executive should not be earning less that their subordinate and also felt that the City Manager was doing a good job and that an increase was in order. Upon Roll Call vote: Ayes: Council Member Roman and Mayor Gonzales. Noes: Council Members, Cisneros, Rehrer and Lofy. Motion did not pass. City Manager Sotelo stated he had received two evaluations thus far regarding his work performance and requested he be given the courtesy to receive the others before they are discussed in public. PUBLIC HEARING: Appeal Mayor Gonzales declared the Public Hearing open.
