Councilmember Cook stated that leadership is a responsibility which she accepted with pride. <br />She expressed enthusiasm at being on -the City Council. She intends to work for the best <br />of the community and especially for District 4. She proclaimed that she was proud to live <br />in the City of Colton. She introduced her husband Jack and daughter Sandy, who were her <br />campaign committee. <br />Councilmember Beltran declared he appreciated the vote of confidence. He said it was great <br />to be back after 14 years. He is anxious to get to work, to take charge and to makes <br />changes for the betterment of the community. He strongly expressed that "We are going <br />to move. tt <br />As he campaigned he asked for voter concerns, complaints or comments. He called a town <br />hall meeting on Wednesday Night, December 2, 1992, at the Hutton Center, from 7:00 P, <br />M., to 9:30 P. M., to accept concerns of the constituency and for action. He invited <br />everyone to go to him with any problems. <br />Mayor Gonzales said that to start anew it was tradition to ask for God's assistance. The <br />City is celebrating a new beginning -.-.providing a new opportunity to unite and to serve the <br />people. He rioted that -the City had beer) blessed with a City Council that brought much <br />experience, which was highly skilled and energetic. <br />The new City Council can look forward to wisdorn, dedication, unity and progress in its new <br />leadership, Mayor Gonzales recognized COUncilmember Cisneros for accomplishments in City <br />Council and RDA. He noted that Councilmembers Rios and Beltran bring a wealth of <br />experience from prior Council service and from the private business sector, He <br />acknowledged Councilmember Cook as a veteran civic leader and successful <br />businesswoman. He identified Councilmember Bennett as having provided many years of <br />service in numerous committees and thus enhance -the Council with this knowledge. Mayor <br />Gonzales welcomed Councilmember Sandoval who comes from a family services background <br />and is a school teacher with an MBA from USC, With a superior group, this will open an <br />exciting chapter of City history. <br />With no opposition to their candidacy, Mayor Gonzales welcomed City Clerk Ramos and City <br />Treasurer Williams. Fie informed that the City Clerk's Office is a source of pride for the City <br />because of Mrs. Ramos expert and efficient direction. He mentioned that City Treasurer <br />Williams had served the City admirably by saving it millions of dollars. <br />Mayor Gonzales listed the future construction of the medical center and the possible <br />selection of this City for the location of the new federal courthouse as further achievements <br />for the City of Colton.
