PRIORITY ITEM With City Council approval, Mayor Gonzales acknowledged Mr. Lon Herz, representative of the Voters of Foreign Wars, Post 6476, who invited the City Council and the public to their special event set for 3:00 P. M., on May 16, 1995, featuring premier mariachi groups. The money will be used for expansion of their building. MAYOR & COUNCIL ITEMS Mayor Gonzales advised that Items 19 and 20 were pulled from the agenda. Tglpvi�ing Mppling.5, Acting City Manager Assistant Parrish referred to his report advising City Council of preparations taken to comply with the City Council's direction to televise Council meetings, Councilmember Bennett inquired about the money being held. Mr. Parrish stated the money was a grant from Cablevision for the City and cannot be used elsewhere. Councilmember Cook asked that televising of the meetings be included in the 1993-94 budget. Councilmember Bennett insisted that the residents have a right to know what their government is doing and asked that no time be lost on this venture. Acting City Manager Young agreed that specifications could be obtained by June 15 and that the time frame would be observed. PUBLIC HEARINGS: Graffiti Ordinance Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the time and place fired for public hearing to consider adding Chapters 9.25 and 9.27 to the Colton Municipal Code to adopt measures to abate and prevent the proliferation of graffiti. Mayor Gonzales declared the public hearing open, City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and reported that no protests or objections were received. As directed by City Council, Community Development Director David Zamora reported that he met with the Police Chief, the Public Works Director, the Parks, Recreation and Human Services Director along with Councilmembers Cisneros, Cook and Beltran to create the proposed ordinance which delineates graffiti abatement procedures and graffiti prevention. Staff recommended approval of the proposed Ordinance.
