PRIORITY ITEM <br />With City Council approval, Mayor Gonzales acknowledged Mr. Lon Herz, <br />representative of the Voters of Foreign Wars, Post 6476, who invited the City Council <br />and the public to their special event set for 3:00 P. M., on May 16, 1995, featuring <br />premier mariachi groups. The money will be used for expansion of their building. <br />MAYOR & COUNCIL ITEMS <br />Mayor Gonzales advised that Items 19 and 20 were pulled from the agenda. <br />Tglpvi�ing Mppling.5, <br />Acting City Manager Assistant Parrish referred to his report advising City Council of <br />preparations taken to comply with the City Council's direction to televise Council <br />meetings, Councilmember Bennett inquired about the money being held. Mr. Parrish <br />stated the money was a grant from Cablevision for the City and cannot be used <br />elsewhere. Councilmember Cook asked that televising of the meetings be included <br />in the 1993-94 budget. Councilmember Bennett insisted that the residents have a <br />right to know what their government is doing and asked that no time be lost on this <br />venture. Acting City Manager Young agreed that specifications could be obtained by <br />June 15 and that the time frame would be observed. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Graffiti Ordinance <br />Mayor Gonzales announced that this was the time and place fired for public hearing <br />to consider adding Chapters 9.25 and 9.27 to the Colton Municipal Code to adopt <br />measures to abate and prevent the proliferation of graffiti. <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the public hearing open, <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Publication and reported that no protests <br />or objections were received. <br />As directed by City Council, Community Development Director David Zamora reported <br />that he met with the Police Chief, the Public Works Director, the Parks, Recreation <br />and Human Services Director along with Councilmembers Cisneros, Cook and Beltran <br />to create the proposed ordinance which delineates graffiti abatement procedures and <br />graffiti prevention. Staff recommended approval of the proposed Ordinance. <br />To Councilmember Sandoval's question on whether the school district was contacted, <br />Mr. Zamora answered yes but there was no response from Dr. Fischer for the school <br />5 <br />6?
