Certificate Chief Hendrix presented to Alex Carbajal, of Arrowhead Water, Honorary <br />Citizen for rescuing a woman as she was being attacked by (3) dogs; a <br />certificate of appreciation from the City of Colton <br />• Certificate CM Hernandez presented the Colton PAL Tennis Program 2005 Most <br />Valuable Player; Female Division to Anna -Naomi Racataian and Male <br />Division to Ronnie Brucker a certificate of recognition from the City of <br />Colton <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Alice Bidney, President of the Colton Woman's Club, spoke in support of recognizing "Landmark <br />#49", three cement tables and benches located at the Cesar Chavez Park. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br />Request for Approval of Professional Services Agreement with SPL WorldGroup, Inc. <br />Electric Utilities Manager Olko presented a synopsis of the staff report for Council consideration <br />and requested approval of staff's recommendation. <br />Motion by CM De La Rosa, Seconded by CM Hernandez to approve the Professional <br />Agreement with SPL World Group, Inc.. Unanimous vote. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Appeal — Ashley Furniture Industries <br />This was the time and place fixed to consider the continued public hearing from August 16, <br />2005, an appeal of the Planning Commission's approval of File Index Number Dap -000-449, <br />Ashley Furniture Industries, regarding design review, Conditional Use Permit and Major <br />Variance for a proposed 63,796 S.F. Retail Sales, Storage and Restaurant Building with a <br />Freeway Oriented Sign and a reduction in the parking stall and setback requirements on <br />property located at 855 Ashley Way, Colton, Ca. <br />The Mayor declared the Public Hearing open. <br />City Clerk Barrera announced that the Notice of Continuance of the Public Hearing is on file in <br />the City Clerk's Office and no protests or objections have been received. <br />Community Development Director Zamora presented a synopsis of the staff report for Council <br />consideration and requested approval of staff's recommendation. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Daniel Melzer, business owner at 930 South Mt. Vernon, Board Member of the Colton Chamber <br />of Commerce.
