Section 2.66.050 Powers and duties. A. The powers and duties of a Reserve Police Officer are subject at all times to the direction, supervision, and control of the Chief of Police or his/her designee for the purpose of assisting the Department. B. In accordance with the provisions of Section 830.6(a)(2) of the California Penal Code, each Reserve Police Officer shall have the powers and duties of a peace officer as provided by Section 830.1 of the Penal Code. C. Every Reserve Officer shall become familiar with and be governed by all rules and regulations as established by the Chief of Police or his/her designee. These may include, but are not limited to, training standards, minimum duty requirements, and monthly meeting attendance. Section 2.66.060 Identification and uniform. All equipment and identification issued by the police department remains the property of the Department and shall be surrendered upon request by any duly authorized agent of the Department. A Reserve Police Officer shall not wear or possess any Department -issued equipment, and shall not identify himself or herself as a member of the Colton Police Department, unless the identification is made as part of or in connection with the Reserve Police Officer's performance of official duties for the Department. Section 2.66.070 Volunteer status. Reserve Police Officers serve as volunteers for the Department and shall receive no compensation or benefits. They shall not be subject to, nor shall they acquire, the status or rights of employees of the department, except as otherwise required by law. Reserve Police Officers shall not be entitled to the rights and privileges provided to regular salaried officers by Section 3300 et seq. of the Government Code, also known as the "Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act." Section 2.66.080 Disability payments and death benefits. Notwithstanding Section 2.66.070 of this Ordinance, the City Council acknowledges the applicability to Reserve Police Officers of Section 3362.5 of the Labor Code, which presently provides that Reserve Police Officers are employees for purposes of workers' compensation while on duty, and Section 4458.2 of the Labor Code, which governs the calculation of disability payments for injured Reserve Police Officers. Section 2.66.090 Removal from assignment — Resignation. A. All Reserve Police Officers serve at the pleasure of the Chief of Police, who shall have the authority to summarily dismiss any Reserve Police Officer at any time regardless of cause or reason. -2-
