CITY OF COLTON <br />Personnel Director (Continued) <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIE <br />Prepare statistical and narrative reports for local, state and <br />federal agencies. <br />Prepare agenda reports relating to personnel matters; and make <br />presentations at meetings. <br />Select, supervise, train and evaluate divisional staff. <br />Perform other duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles and practices of public administration and personnel <br />management, including labor relations, methods and techniques <br />used in recruitment and selection, classification, compensation <br />and benefit administration, training and development, and <br />occupational safety. <br />Applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, <br />ordinances, and policies affecting personnel management. <br />Principles and practices of budget development and control. <br />Methods and techniques of research, statistics, survey and <br />analysis, and report writing. <br />Ability to: <br />Effectively manage and direct the operations of the Personnel <br />Department. <br />Supervise, train, assign, and evaluate staff. <br />Gather and analyze statistical, financial and narrative data. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing. <br />Advise management on procedural processes, and administration of <br />personnel policies and programs. <br />Coordinate divisional activities with other City departments. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships. <br />Prepare and administer department budget. <br />
