CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF September 18, 1990
SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO PROCEED WITH FY 90/91 STREET REHABILITATION/MAINTENANCE
PROJECT
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council approve the extension of the existing street overlay
contract to Matich Corporation (as allowed within the contract documents) holding
last year's asphalt prices. In addition, staff recommends approval of the heater
remix process as needed for those streets within this year's proposed projects that
was not included in the current contract.
The fiscal year 90/91 budget allocated $500,000 for street rehabilitation projects.
Staff recommends that the contractor. be authorized for phases 1 and 2 (13 streets)
as shown on the attached project list cost estimates amounting to $370,530.
In addition, staff recommends authorizing additional street rehabilitation projects
for the remainder of the project budget ($129,470) on a project by project basis.
This allows for flexibility on street rehabilitation projects that arise during the
fiscal year and/or projects that require improvements, such as curbs or gutters
prior to their paving. Prospective project requiring additional work shown on Phase
III of project list as A-1 Stevens Street.
Upon completion of the aforementioned projects, Phase III (B) sluffy sealing would
be implemented through the competitive bid process for preventative maintenance
projects.
JCH/cm
CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE:
Page 2 of ---2--
Item No
