City of Colton <br />INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER <br />DEFINITION <br />Under general supervision, coordinates the operations of all <br />computer systems in the City, administers all data processing <br />contracts, is responsible for long-range planning of the City's <br />information systems, enforces existing policies and recommends new <br />policies or procedures. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Incumbent works independently with only general supervision from <br />the Finance Director with regular input from the Executive <br />Committee composed of the City Manager, City Treasurer, Finance <br />Director and Department Head representatives. <br />Exercises direct supervision over technical and clerical staff. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, <br />the following: <br />Provide direct technical support to all department users in the <br />identification of computer hardware and software needs and in the <br />resolution of computer related problems. <br />Analyze new releases of vendor supplied software to determine <br />impact on the City's computer system. <br />Coordinate the purchase and installation of new software. <br />Act as technical liaison between users and technical support <br />vendor(s). <br />Perform systems analysis. <br />Schedule production batch jobs on the City's central computer. <br />Perform regular system backups, City-wide. <br />Conduct regular training and inservice workshops on key computer <br />applications in the City. <br />Write and maintain procedural documentation on the proper use of <br />the City's computer applications. <br />Record and analyze problems and take preventive measures. <br />Assist users with ad hoc reports from the central system data base. <br />Maintain the budget for supplies, maintenance, operation, and <br />support of all City computer systems. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br />
