CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT (Continued) <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF October 4, 1994 <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT WITH CALMAT CEMENT COMPANY <br />FOR SWAPPING AND ACQUISITION OF EASEMENTS AND <br />RIGHTS-OF-WAY FOR TRANSMISSION, DISTRIBUTION LINES, <br />AND STORM DRAIN PROJECTS <br />The Department, along with the Public Works Department, agreed to swap existing Pepper Street <br />extension rights-of-way to align with the new Pepper Street Extension along with the proposed <br />storm drain project and transmission line. <br />The detailed agreement that was drafted, reviewed, and agreed upon by the Electric Department, <br />Public Works Department, City Attorney, and CalMat is submitted herewith for Council approval. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None. This is the only corridor the proposed transmission line can follow to our west substation <br />site. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The agreed upon price between the City and CalMat for the proposed easement, rights-of-way, and <br />swapping of land is $250,000. The consultant, Black & Veatch, reviewed the entire agreement and <br />found it reasonable and the price within the estimated range. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />All the necessary measures will be taken to minimize any environmental impact caused by this <br />project. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement and <br />pay CalMat $250,000 for acquisition sements, rights-of-way, and swapping of land in the <br />wide interest of various City projects. <br />City Manager's Concurrence: ,0,a7 <br />Report prepared by: Nitin Modi, Principal Electrical Engineer <br />Page 2 of 2 Item No. <br />
