10 <br />Cooley Ranch Master Plan Report. <br />Mayor Huntoon stated the Planning Commission recommends to the City Council the adoption of the <br />Cooley Ranch Master Plan Report as modified and adopted by minute action at their meeting held <br />March 26, 1974, and Staff recommends this report be scheduled for discussion at the next regular <br />Council meeting of April 16, 1974. <br />On motion.of Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Spragins and unanimously passed, the <br />Cooley Ranch Master Plan Report was scheduled for discussion at the next regular Council Meet- <br />ing,April 16, 1974. <br />Award Contract on Tree Trimming Truck for Parks Department. <br />City Manager''Huffaker advised that a bid summary has been prepared on a truck chassis with cab, <br />equipped with one-man aerial device for the use of tree trimming by our Parks Department. <br />Mr. Huffaker reported that the low bidder was Dieterich International at $23,892.28. <br />Mr. Huffaker said., it is recommended that the low bid from Dieterich International be accepted, <br />however, that Staff report on alternate methods of financing for this type of equipment. <br />Councilman Rehrer asked about the amount of money over the budgeted amount for this equipment. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated there are sufficient funds to cover this additional amount. <br />Councilman Rehrer asked if this will be a binding contract or will there be an increase in the <br />price after the 180 day delivery date. <br />Mr. Huffaker stated the contract would be binding and there would be no increase in cost. <br />On motion of Councilwoman Spragins, seconded by Councilman Rehrer and unanimously passed, the <br />bid for the tree trimming truck for the Parks Department was awarded to Dieterich International, <br />and Staff was instructed to report on alternate methods of financing for this equipment. <br />PTTRT.Tr WnRKS DTRFCTOR REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Final Subdivision Map on Tract 8761 (Canyon Bluffs). <br />Mr. Earl Young, Public Works Superintendent, advised that the final subdivision map has not been <br />received as yet, and asked that this item be postponed indefinitely. <br />[rant Deed on Rexford Drive. <br />Mr. Earl Young advised that Staff has received a request for acceptance of a deed on Rexford Drive, <br />a private street, and a field review of the existing facilities shows some deficiencies in the <br />existing street, such as lack of sidewalks, substandard driveway approaches, no street lighting, <br />inadequate street signs, and the lack of a street End barricade. <br />Mr. Young said the City's present policy is to require all off-site improvements completed to <br />City standards prior to acceptance of a deed. <br />On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Gonzales and unanimously passed, Council <br />instructed Staff to hold the Grant Deed on Rexford Drive until all improvements have been com- <br />pleted, as outlined by Staff. <br />rTTV MANACER REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />St. John's Lutheran Church requesting return of books donated to the Library. <br />City Manager Huffaker advised that the St. John's Lutheran Church has been donating the complete <br />works of Martin Luther, a multi -volume set of books, to the Colton Public Library as the books <br />are publiphed. <br />Mr. Huffaker said the church now has a library of its own and wishes to have this collection re- <br />turned to them, and that anyone in the community can use the church library to read the collec- <br />tion. <br />Mr. Huffaker concluded that Staff recommends these volumns be withdrawn from our City Library <br />and returned to the church as they have requested. <br />On motion of Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes and unanimously.passed, the request <br />of St. John's Lutheran Church to return the books that had been donated to the City's Library <br />was approved. <br />Councilwoman Spragins suggested that a letter of thanks be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church <br />for the use of their books. <br />Engineering Consultant Report Regarding Colton Municipal Plunge. <br />City Manager Huffaker advised that recently, the City Council retained the services of Johnson <br />and Neilsen Associates, a structural engineering firm, to determine the structural condition of <br />the Municipal Plunge. <br />Mr. Huffaker continued he has sent copies of a report from Mr. Svend H. Neilsen to the Council <br />in which Mr. Neilsen indicates "by the standards set up in the Uniform Building Code, the walls <br />of the swimming pool must be considered inadequate and unsafe", and further that at this time <br />he is unable to determine the cost of bringing the pool into compliance with the requirements <br />of the Uniform Building Code, however, he does indicate the cost of pouring and guniting a new <br />Ai)R 1974 <br />
