<br />5 Colton Band Review
<br />Mr. Duane Sharp, Review Director, made a presentation to the City Council regard-
<br />ing the forthcoming Colton Invitational Band Review, giving a full explanation
<br />of the program which will be held over a period of two days, May 11 and 12, 1979,
<br />with a special concert to be held on Friday, May 11, with all of the participating
<br />bands.
<br />Mr. Sharp requested the usual City sponsorship and approval of the annual Colton
<br />Invitational Band Review program.

<br />Colton Invitational Band Review, to be held May 11 and 12, 1979. Unanimous vote.

<br />Planning Director Gonzales reviewed a Conditional Use Permit application, requested
<br />by Colton Iron and Metal Works, to expand their existing auto dismantling facilities
<br />to include 37.9 acres, on property located at 790 East "M" Street, on the south side
<br />of "M" Street between Mt. Vernon Avenue and the Lytle Creek Flood Control Channel,
<br />and southerly of Congress Street.
<br />Mr. Gonzales advised that at a Public Hearing, held October 10, 1978, the Planning
<br />Commission recommended denial of the Conditional Use Permit application, as outlined
<br />in Planning Commission Resolution No. 899. Mr. Gonzales further advised that Staff
<br />has received a letter, dated October 12, 1978, from the consulting firm of Beltran
<br />and Hicks, who represent the applicants, requesting a continuance of this matter
<br />until the next regular Council Meeting.
<br />On Council consensus, Planning Commission Resolution No. 899, Conditional Use Permit
<br />application, Index No. C-17-78, Colton Iron and Metal Works, was continued to the
<br />next regular Council Meeting to be held November 7, 1978. Unanimous vote.

<br />Mr. Gonzales reported that the zone change application, requested by Montecito
<br />Memorial Park, which was approved by Planning Commission Resolution No. 884 and
<br />passed First Reading of Ordinance No. 1545, was referred back to the Planning
<br />Commission at the request of Reche Canyon residents for additional public in-
<br />put at the time of Second Reading of the Ordinance.
<br />Mr. Gonzales continued at a meeting held October 10, 1978, numerous residents
<br />from Reche Canyon responded and presented a petition containing approximately
<br />315 names opposing the zone change from R -E to R -1-X; however, it was the deter-
<br />mination of the Planning Commission to return Planning Commission Resolution No.
<br />884 approving the zone change as requested, and the recommendation to continue
<br />with Second Reading of Ordinance No. 1545.
<br />Mr. Gene McMeans, 12004 Glenwood, Reche Canyon, and Mr. Jess Bettler, 7031 Adams
