134 <br />of developing the parcel for apartments. <br />Mr. Gonzales stated the subject property is designated for low-density <br />residential and the proposed multiple -family classification is intended <br />for multiple family residential use, making it inconsistent with <br />the existing low-density residential designation of the City's General <br />Plan. <br />Mr. Gonzales recommended that the City Council approve the recommenda- <br />tion of the Planning Commission to zone the property R -1-X. <br />Mr. Bill Limbrae, residing on Westwood, inquired about the proposed <br />residential density. <br />Planning Director Gonzales replied the density would be 0-6, meaning up to <br />6 homes could be constructed per acre. <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to close <br />the public hearing. Unanimous vote. <br />City Attorney Edwards read the ordinance by title and number. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1545 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON AMENDING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 964, AS AMENDED, AND PROVIDING <br />FOR CERTAIN ZONE RECLASSIFICATIONS. <br />Ordinance No. 1548 <br />Keeping of Bees <br />Mayor Gonzales declared the public hearing open to consider Ordinance <br />No. 1548, relating to the Maintenance of Apiaries and the Keeping of <br />Bees, declaring them to be a nuisance and prohibiting the maintenance <br />thereof. <br />City Clerk, Mrs. Ramos, submitted the Affidavit of Publication and <br />reported no protests or objections had been received. <br />City Manager Calabrese reported this ordinance was proposed and submitted <br />by Chief of Police Elliott after encountering problems with the keeping <br />of bees, but restricting the number of colonies allowed to be kept. <br />Mr. Fife informed the Council that the County of San Bernardino has <br />such an ordinance and suggested that perhaps the City could align its <br />ordinance along the same lines. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to close <br />the public hearing. Unanimous vote. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Mayor Gonzales, to refer <br />Ordinance No. 1548 back to staff for further study and to consider <br />the suggestions made with regards to allowing the keeping of bees <br />but limiting the number of colonies allowed.
