137 <br />Councilman Rehrer inquired as to whether a study was made to determine <br />if two Dial -A -Ride vehicles would meet the need of the citizens. <br />City Manager Calabrese reported a study had not yet been conducted. <br />Councilman Rehrer suggested this item be continued pending the outcome <br />of a ridership study. <br />Mayor Gonzales referred the Dial -A -Ride reduction in vehicle matter <br />back to staff. <br />Fire <br />Forestry, Dept of Calif. <br />City Manager Calabrese submitted a Mutual Aid Agreement with the <br />California Department of Forestry which would provide mutual assistance in <br />the Reche Canyon area. Mr. Calabrese stated the Fire Chief has reviewed <br />the agreement and feels it would be beneficial to the City. <br />0) Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to authorize <br />(Y) the Fire Chief to sign the Mutual Aid Agreement with the California <br />Department of Forestry. <br />Fire <br />Q <br />Site for Proposed Fire Station <br />City Manager Calabrese submitted a grant deed for a fire station site <br />offered by Thomas R. Villelli. Mr. Calabrese reported the .81 acres <br />described in the deed would provide for responsive incremental options <br />in the southern part of the City. <br />On Council consensus the Offer of Site for Proposed Future Fire Station <br />was continued to next Council meeting. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3850 <br />Fixing the Amount Necessary to be Raised by Taxes <br />City Manager Calabrese reported the first tax resolution is for the <br />purpose of authorizing the County of San Bernardino to include the City <br />of Colton as a participant in its tax levy of $4.00, which is the <br />statutory maximum levy allowed by the State Code as amended by Proposition <br />13. <br />Discussion followed. <br />City Manager Calabrese and Finance Director Helsley explained that the <br />County of San Bernardino is authorized by the State Code as amended by <br />Proposition 13, to levy a maximum tax of $4.00, the cities in the county <br />no longer can set individual tax rates, but rather can with authority of <br />their City Council share in the $4.00 tax rate of the County. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, to <br />approve Resolution No. 3850. Motion carried. Councilman Rehrer voting <br />NO. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3851 <br />Tax Rate for Bonded Indebtedness <br />City Manager Calabrese explained that this resolution is prepared at <br />the request of the County of San Bernardino and is pursuant to the State <br />Code as amended by Proposition 13. Mr. Calabrese stated the County <br />through this resolution, will increase the tax rate for the City of Colton <br />by the amount of $0.0378 above the $4 00 County -wide rate and this $0.0378 <br />is the levy necessary to pay the debt service for the current year on <br />the 1965 bond issue. <br />Discussion followed.
