Vote <br />was unanimous. <br />CORRESPONDENCE: <br />Labor Relations <br />Mr. Art Villa, 25540 San Bernardino Avenue, San Bernardino, President of the Local <br />No. 226, International Brotherhood of Pottery & Allied Workers, and employee of <br />Colton Manufacturing, Inc.,.again spoke to the Council Members regarding the con- <br />tinuing problems and labor disputes between the employees and the Company. <br />Mr. Villa stated he realized the City Council could not get involved in labor and <br />union problems, however, he, and many of the employees, were hopeful that the City <br />could write a letter to the company, expressing the City's concern that these <br />problems would be resolved in the near future. <br />(� Mr. Frank Rebollo, Manager of the Chamber of Commerce, stated he had contacted <br />(Y� Senator Ruben Ayala's office concerning this problem and was advised that a <br />private mediator should be called in to intervene and bring about a settlement. <br />Q Mr. Villa said this has already been done, but nothing has been settled asY et. <br />'Q Mr. Villa stated it appears now that the company does not really want to settle <br />Q this matter, and they are trying to break up the Union. <br />Mr. Rebollo suggested that possibly the Board of Directors of the Chamber might <br />consider sending delegates to the Company to discuss this matter. <br />Councilwoman Cisneros also.suggested that the City write a letter to the Company, <br />expressing our concern and hope that this dispute be settled soon, to everyone's <br />satisfaction. <br />Discussion then followed among Council Members with regard to such a letter and <br />its contents. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Mayor Gonzales, authorizing Staff to <br />write a letter to Colton Manufacturing, Inc., expressing the City's concern over <br />the existing problems between the Company and its employees, and that hopefully <br />this dispute will be resolved in the near future. Unanimous vote. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Zoning <br />P. C. Res. No. 914 <br />Moved by Councilman Rehrer, seconded by Councilman Hayes, to set for Public Hear- <br />ing on Tuesday, June 5, 1979, Planning Commission Resolution No. 914, A-8-79. <br />Vote was unanimous. - <br />Conditional Use Permit/Variance <br />Planning Director Gonzales reported from his memorandum dated May 9, 1979, re- <br />garding Conditional Use Permit and Variance applications requested by Constructech <br />Corporation to develop Tract No. 9974 with ten single-family homes and reduce the <br />side and front yard setbacks, on property consisting of 2.56 acres located on "E <br />Street, between 2nd and 4th Streets, in an R -1-X zone. <br />Mr. Gonzales advised the Planning Commission considered these applications at a <br />public hearing held May 8, 1979, and after study and research recommended approval <br />of the Conditional Use Permit, C-4-79, and Variance, V-3-79, applications subject. <br />to findings and conditions as listed in Planning Commission Resolution No. 912. <br />Moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilman Temby, approving Planning Commis- <br />sion Resolution No. 912 and the findings and conditions as listed therein.
