Unanimous vote. <br />MAYOR'S REPORTS AND PROCLAMATIONS: <br />Proclamations <br />Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation for National Business and Professional <br />Woman's Club Week, October 21 through 28, 1979, which was presented to Council- <br />woman Cisneros, Secretary of the Colton Woman's Club. <br />Mayor Gonzales read in full a Proclamation declaring October as Toastmasters <br />Month and honoring Toastmasters International on their 55th anniversary. <br />Transportation <br />Mayor Gonzales read his memorandum dated October 10, 1979, regarding the possibil- <br />ity of furnishing bus service to the residents at Lake Cadena Mobile Home Park, <br />and referred to letters from Robert E. Chafin, General Manager of OMNITRANS, dated <br />August 24, 1979, and from Art Parlas, President of Yellow Checker Leasing, Inc., <br />dated September 21, 1979. <br />Mayor Gonzales stated, as outlined in Mr. Chafin's letter, to continue bus service <br />by RTD or OMNITRANS to the mobile home park would be quite costly to the City, how- <br />ever, he felt the offer made by Mr. Parlas, to extend Dial -A -Ride services to the <br />park for a thirty -day period at no additional cost to the City, was feasible. <br />Mayor Gonzales said the City's contract for Dial -A -Ride services is coming up for <br />renewal within the next 30 to 60 days, and perhaps at renewal time, the City might <br />be able to provide this additional service to the park. <br />Discussion followed with regard to the current boundaries for Colton's Dial -A -Ride <br />service and the proposed new vehicles for this transportation. <br />After additional discussion, moved by Councilman Hayes, seconded by Councilwoman <br />Cisneros, approving extension of Dial -A -Ride services to the Lake Cadena Mobile <br />Home Park for a 30 -day trial period. Unanimous vote. <br />Awards <br />Mr. James F. Celano, District Manager of the San Bernardino District Office, Auto- <br />mobile Club of Southern California, presented to the City Council an Award from <br />the American Automobile Association, commending the City of Colton for no pedes- <br />trian fatalities in 1978. Mr. Celano also commended the City's safety personnel. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />I/ar-i anrA <br />P. C. Res. No. 928 <br />Planning Director Gonzales reviewed his memorandum dated October 10, 1979, regard- <br />ing a Variance application requested by Richard G. Carnero to allow reduction of <br />the rear yard setback requirement by 7 feet on property located at 2211 Vermont <br />Avenue. <br />OCT 16 1979 <br />
