Mr. Art Parlas, 1510 West 5th Street, San Bernardino, stated he has 225
operated a taxicab business in the City of Colton for over 50 years,
his rates are lower than other companies, he has always provided good
service to the citizens of Colton, and he felt the City of Colton did
not need another taxicab company.
Mr. Fred Cordova, 190 East "E" Street, Colton, stated the information
that was given to the City Council at a previous meeting was accurate,
with regard to the taxicab service at the Pete Luque Center and Stater
Bros. Market.
Mrs. Jennie Richter, 941 North La Cadena Drive, Colton, stated she de-
pends on taxicabs as that is her only means of transportation, and she
has had very poor service with the Yellow Cab Company of San Bernardino.
Mrs. Richter stated the drivers' appearance is very poor and they are
for the most part, not at all cooperative or helpful, the response time
is extremely long, in some cases several hours long, and, in general,
she has had much better service from Orange Coast Yellow Cab.
Miss Genevieve Garcia, 1346 Holly Avenue, stated she has no problems
with Yellow Cab, and the majority of the time their service is good.
O Mr. Wes Hayden, 279 West Litton, stated as large and diverse as the
❑ City of Colton has become, he felt we could support two taxicab com-
panies. Mr. Hayden said that competition makes us excel.
❑ Mr. Art Parlas spoke again to the City Council stating that business
Co has been bad in Colton, and, in fact, there were two Dial -A -Ride ve-
hicles in service here, now there is only one.
Mr. Fred Cordova responded that the reduction in Dial -A -Ride vehicles
was due to a cut in the budget, not because of a lack of business.
After additional discussion, moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by
Councilman Rehrer, the Public Hearing was terminated. Unanimous vote.
