Mr. Aguilera
stated the sign program has been successful in keeping the shopping
center orderly, neat and free of gaudy signage.
Mr. Aguilera concluded Staff recommends the City Council uphold the
existing sign program and deny the applicant's request.
Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone present desired to speak on this matter.
Mr. Jack Cook, 844 Edgehill Drive, representing the Chamber of Commerce,
spoke in favor of the signage and logo for Round Table Pizza, stating
this was the best way to attract business and customers. Mr. Cook said
he was hopeful that the City Council would approve this Appeal.
Mr. Ray Collier, 5850 Etivanda, Mira Loma, spoke to the Council regard-
ing the lease for the building, which was dated September, 1987, and
referred to the logo and signage requirements for Round Table Pizza,
wherein the colors of yellow, green, blue and red are used as a part
of their logo criteria. Mr. Collier also reiterated information that
led up to their Appeal, and stated that two other stores in the Court-
yard Shopping Center had been allowed to use their own colors and
signs. Mr. Collier said if they cannot display these colors and logo,
they will be in violation of their franchise. Mr. Collier stated this
logo is on all of their material, the building, the menu, napkins, etc.
Mr. Collier concluded he was hopeful that Council would approve their
use of the logo and signage as it exists.
Mayor Gonzales asked if anyone had additional comments to make.
Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, the Public
Hearing was terminated.
