Councilman Lofy pointed out that as a matter of courtesy for all parties concerned
to allow them maximum time and opportunity to plan for the election process that
he would make a motion to change the election date from August 18, 1992 as
listed on the proposed Resolutions to September 15, 1992. Councilman Rehrer
seconded the motion.
Mr. Donald J. Sanders, 1445 N. Teresa Avenue, read a written statement
objecting to the recall movement to oust Councilwoman Cisneros citing that the
petition is based on rumor, innuendo, unsubstantiated facts and flimsy charges
which serves as a diversion to deep seated issues that have not been addressed.
He suggested a revamping of the recall process to eliminate the vindictive and
personal attack against the incumbent. Mr. Sanders cited Mrs. Cisneros years of
dedicated service to the community. He urged the voters to rise and reinstate
Councilwoman Cisneros if and when a special election is held.
Mr. Rocky Fredrickson, asked why the election date was being moved from August
to September. Councilman Lofy reiterated that people would need sufficient time
to put money and resources together in order to meet this election and that he felt
it was a matter of courtesy to allow the parties involved as much time, under the
law, for preparation.
Motion unanimously passed to adopt RESOLUTION NO. R-60-92, Calling and
Giving Notice of the Holding of a Special Election on September 15, 1992.
Councilwoman Cisneros abstained.
RESOLUTION NO. R-60-92 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND
GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY,
SEPTEMBER 15, 1992, FOR THE SUBMISSION TO
THE VOTERS OF THE RECALL OF A CERTAIN
OFFICER AND THE QUESTION OF FILLING THE
VACANCY IF THE RECALL PREVAILS.
Motion by Councilman Lofy, seconded by Councilman Rehrer, to adopt
RESOLUTION NO. R-61-92, Requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of
San Bernardino to Render Services. Unanimous vote. Councilwoman Cisneros
abstained.
C:1
M m 1 9 192
