All other freestanding sign types shall be <br />either "Pole Sign" or "Pylon Sign." See Figure 18.50-1 (Monument Sign). <br />Figure 18.50-1: Monument Sign <br />"Multi -tenant center" means a property or combination of properties containing two or <br />more businesses and which share common parking, driveway and access areas. <br />"Murals" means a painting on an exterior as a work of art with no commercial message. <br />"Noncommercial flag" means any cloth, paper, canvas, light -weight fabric or other non- <br />rigid material that identifies the United States, the State of California and other countries and <br />states, counties and municipalities, nationally recognized organizations or corporations, and any <br />other vertical or horizontal flag with no text, characters, or other message. <br />"Noncommercial sign" means a sign which displays noncommercial speech, e.g., <br />commentary or advocacy on topics of public debate and concern. <br />"Nonconforming sign" means a sign lawfully erected which does not comply with the <br />provisions of this chapter. <br />"Off -premise advertising display" or "outdoor advertising display" means any structure, <br />housing, sign, device, figure, statuary, painting, message placard or other contrivance, or any part <br />thereof, which has been designed, constructed, created, intended or engineered to have a useful <br />life of fifteen years or more and intended or used to advertise or to provide data or information in <br />the nature of advertising for a business or businesses not located on the same premises as the sign. <br />"On -premise advertising display" means any structure, housing, sign, device, figure, <br />statuary, painting, message placard or other contrivance, or any part thereof, which has been <br />designed, constructed, created, intended or engineered to have a useful life of fifteen years or <br />more and intended or used to advertise or to provide data or information in the nature of <br />advertising for a business or businesses located on the same premises as the sign. <br />"Painted sign" means a sign which is comprised only of paint applied on a building or <br />structure, except for murals, as defined by this section. <br />"Permanent window sign" means a sign painted, attached, glued or otherwise affixed to a <br />- 5 - <br />
